Post-interview Discussion

We were interviewed for Promopodcast on Emilcar.fm

Pilar: Our avatar has changed since we started. We thought we’d have a predominantly English speaking audience, in fact it’s mostly Spanish.

Craig: Our avatar is probably Spanish speaking podcasters who are interested in what’s happening in the English-speaking world.

Pilar: I like podcasts that have a conversational focus.

The rapport in particular between co-hosts will hold Pilar’s attention and interest. Pilar listens mainly for entertainment.

Amy Porterfield: http://www.amyporterfield.com/

Craig: I like podcasts that teach me stuff and make me think.

Pilar: I stop listening to a podcast when the audio quality is below a certain level.

I’ve thought about starting a podcast network, but it’s too much work!

The BBC are now cross-promoting other podcasts in their network.

Craig: Perhaps a podcast network would be a good idea for language learning podcasts. Too much work for me, too!

Podcast One: http://www.podcastone.com/

Panoply: http://www.panoply.fm/

Radiotopia: https://www.radiotopia.fm/

Pilar: Diversity is important in a podcast network.

I have stopped my sponsor in my business podcast: http://virtualnotdistant.com/podcasts/ It could be confusing that a business podcast is sponsored by another business. Ask yourself if the sponsor is really necessary, and a good fit, before you take it on.

Craig: Jessica Kupferman’s agency for possible sponsorship: http://www.jkmagency.com/

Pilar: You don’t need a large number of listeners to get a sponsor. It’s the engagement that’s important.

Craig: In the coming year or two, local podcasting could really take off. It might take a few more years for that to affect Spanish podcasting.
